Thank you for visiting our website and WELCOME to Virginia Beach Friends School (VBFS). You are quickly going to learn we are a FUN, KIND, and WELCOMING community. As a Quaker school, we honor Quaker traditions, looking to assist each of our students in finding their Inner Light and in celebrating that Inner Light. We do this by finding the space to appreciate, respect, and celebrate all of those in our community, as we are all unique human beings with so much to offer.
As a Quaker school, we value the SPICES! Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship. These values are embedded in all we do at VBFS. The SPICES coupled with our academic curriculum and small class size, allows for individual growth and specialization. This is what separates VBFS from other schools in the Hampton Roads area and what we hang our hat on. We’re not just talking about our mission at VBFS, we’re living it each day!
Academically, we seek to create curiosity and wonder in your child allowing them to ENJOY each day of school and intentionally finding ways to infuse hands-on experiences into the daily routine and learning environment. A VBFS student leaves school smiling and looking forward to engaging on this educational journey with their FRIENDS again the next day.
Our focus on character growth, social emotional health, and experiential learning , while truly valuing each of our students for who they are (their Inner Light) and what they bring to our community, fosters an intentional program predicated on helping grow a generation of kind, thoughtful human beings.
Please take a deep dive and learn more about who we are as a community and the learning experience we provide to our students. I’m honored to lead this School which consists of brilliant and passionate faculty, supportive and thoughtful parents, and the coolest kids who have successful academic careers beyond VBFS and become well acclimated humans in an ever changing world.
We’re doing the most important work each day - come join us!
All the Best,
Greg Angilly
